Everyone has different perceptions of trust. One can be overly trusting, others can be fearful of trust and some have just the right amount of trust. When it comes to pulling together your wedding vendors, having trust in them is key.
You should have gotten a sense of trust when you met with them. Here are three rules to live by with trusting your wedding vendors:
1) Trust that they will perform to the best of their ability
2) Trust that they will ensure that your wedding day is simply lovely
3) Trust that they have the knowledge and expertise to get YOU through your wedding day
As a planner who deals predominantly with couples who are engaged and wedding planning for the first time, I see rule #3 broken more times than I can count. You've hired these professionals for a specific reason: they are the professionals. They've been working in / around the wedding industry for long enough to know what is going on. They've got an awesome skill base, they have more knowledge about their niche than most people. They are experienced.
If you hired them, you must trust them {at least theoretically}, so listen to them. Listen to their expertise. Trust in their experience, advice and knowledge. Chances are, they know what they are talking about. If you disagree, trust in them that they will steer you right.
Trust in your wedding vendors, their insight is invaluable.

Finding Inspiration In Unlikely Places
The one thing that I have learned being an entrepeneur is that I love learning and finding inspiration in unlikely sources. I've always been a learner. I was the kid in high school and college who always did the homework. Seriously. I've loved reading since the second I could understand the words on a page and my husband can attest to this: I read everything that comes across my path. I always have something to read with me because you never know when you'll have a moment to spare to take in some knowledge. So what's the point of all this reading? While I love the knowledge part, I care much more about the inspiration for my business that reading and education gives me. Essentially, I read so my clients get better service. I read in the hopes that I will get an awesome idea that will help my clients. It sounds kinda lame when I re-read those sentences, but in all honesty, I read so much {and all genres} to make sure that my business is continually growing, evolving and moving forward. I also read so that I personally may grow, evolve and move forward.
Where do you find your inspiration?

Weekly Review: Eventology & New Website Launch!
I spent the earlier part of this week out in Indianapolis at Eventology, an educational and fun conference for wedding professionals. I think it is extremely important that as a wedding planner, I take the time to grow my expertise and learn from the creme de la creme in this industry. To say the very least, I was blown away by the intelligence of everyone I met.
We were fortunate enough to have some fabulous speakers: Linnyette Hall, Ali Phillips, Harmony Walton, Saundra Hadley, NaShara Mitchell, Sasha Souza, Terrica Skaggs and Lara Casey. The take aways I got from each were simply invaluable.
The hilarious crew from Epic Motion filmed the entire conference and created two recaps which can be found here and here. Let's just say that karaoke can get dangerous! The talented JenLynne from Jen Lynne Photography was the official photographer and she got some great shots as well.
And, after months of decisions - my new website has launched! Please check it out and let me know what you think!
Have a wonderful weekend - we've got a beautiful wedding tomorrow!
